& Pink Tourmaline - October’s Stones
By Bonnie McMillan
Opal is found
in Australia, Mexico, Peru, South America, Britain, Canada,
United States, Honduras and Slovakia. Its appearance can be
milky, clear, iridescent and fiery; with colors that range from
white, pink, blue, orange, purple and black.
Opal can be
used to strengthen the memory or instill faithfulness and
loyalty. It has been used to assist one in becoming invisible in
situations where you do not want to be seen; fading into the
background. Opals are known as a stone of happy dreams. This
mineral has been used to awaken both the psychic and mystical
qualities. It can be used to encourage flashes of intuition and
insight. Opals have been used by the Native American and
Australian Aboriginal shaman to invoke visions. Native Americans
use it in the vision quest ceremony, and the Aborigines during
ceremonial "dreamtime"
Pink
Tourmaline comes from Sri Lanka, Brazil, Africa, United States,
Western Australia, Afghanistan and Italy. It’s appearance can be
shiny, opaque or transparent; with colors that range from black,
green, pink, red, yellow, blue, watermelon and blue-green.
Tourmaline relates to the chakras. It acts to clear, maintain
and stimulate each of the energy centers. Tourmaline grounds
spiritual energy, promotes understanding, and encourages
self-confidence. Tourmaline balances the male/female energies,
and balances the mind. Tourmaline has been used to stimulate
balance between the left and right sides of the brain. Pink
Tourmaline stimulates the crown chakra and the heart chakra,
bringing forth love and spirituality. It can promote the
feelings of joy and enthusiasm for life by releasing destructive
tendencies. It assists one in the attainment of peace,
understanding, trust, awareness and love. Natural Tourmaline
wands are excellent healing tools. Clears the aura, removes
blockages, and clears negative energy.
